Tourism Funding is in Jeopardy (NH Travel Council)

As you have probably heard, the NH legislature is in the midst of a very tough and contentious budget process with all state spending being targeted for cuts.  The House passed a budget that cuts almost $1.7 million over two years in funding for the Division of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD) – these cuts will have a direct impact on your business with fewer visitors to the state.  With the price of gas rising rapidly across the country New Hampshire will need to promote aggressively if we hope to retain our base of visitors and to remain competitive with other New England States.

With that in mind I am asking you to take a moment today to contact all the legislators on the Senate Finance Committee and urge them to fully fund Travel & Tourism.  The Finance Committee will be working on the Travel & Tourism budget on Monday April 25th and they need to hear from you before that work session!

On Friday, April 1st, 2011 from 6:30-11:00pm the Lakes Region Tourism Association held it’s 4th annual Sweepstakes by the Lake fundraiser at Church Landing in Meredith.

Hannah Davis sang the National Anthem and Gail Batstone, General Manager of the Inns and Spa at Mill Falls, and her sales team threw out the ceremonial first pitch. ” said Amy Landers, Executive Director of the Lakes Region Association. “I love to watch the excitement build as we get down to the final few numbers.
