Lavinia’s Launches Feed A Charity Thursdays (F.A.C.T.)

Lavinia’s Launches Feed A Charity Thursdays (F.A.C.T.)

\”Mankind was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business.” The ghost of Jacob Marley spoke these words in the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Now, at this time of year when we are both mindful of our many blessings yet still keenly aware of those around us in need, one of Center Harbor’s premier restaurants has taken Dickens’ words to heart and made charity their business too.

Every Thursday at Lavinia’s Restaurant & Tavern is now designated as Feed A Charity Thursday, or F.A.C.T. Each F.A.C.T. features a different Lakes Region non-profit, with Lavinia’s donating 10% of their sales for the evening to that cause. Some of the charities that Lavinia’s has supported since F.A.C.T. was introduced on October 30 include: the Interlakes Christmas Fund, Lakes Region Food Pantry, Wright Museum of World War II, and the 98.3 LNH Children’s Auction.

“As a relative newcomer to Center Harbor, I have experienced first-hand the warmth of this community in the way they have welcomed me and my restaurant,” said local owner/chef Brendan McGuff. “I am so appreciative of how people have embraced my dream of bringing classic comfort food to an historic New England setting. “When you participate in one of our Feed A Charity Thursdays you are doing more than just supporting a local non-profit and the good works that they do; you are also supporting a local small business. Ultimately, when people support F.A.C.T. they are supporting their town and the local area and enjoying a great meal.”

Thursdays at Lavinia’s also feature something else that is becoming somewhat of a tradition in the area – the Triple B: One Burger, One Bourbon, One Beer, all for only $19.

Area non-profit groups slated to be featured on F.A.C.T.s in December and January include: the Lakes Region Visiting Nurse Association (December 11), the Lakes Region Conservation Trust (December 18), the Meredith Lions Club (January 8), the NH Humane Society (January 15), the Interlakes Community Caregivers (January 22), and the Altrusa International of Meredith (January 29). If your non-profit group is interested in booking a F.A.C.T. event, please call 603-253-8617 or email manager@laviniasdining.com

Lavinia’s, open Tuesday-Sunday, 4:30 p.m. till closing, located in the heart of the Lakes Region in the historic Coe house at 18 Main Street, Center Harbor, is a restaurant that brings a fresh take to some of New England’s classic comfort dishes. For more information or to make a reservation please call 603-253-8617.
